I'm all for buying fruit, veggies, and flowers in season and locally -- it reduces your carbon footprint and guarantees freshness. Dahlias are one of my favorite flowers and I just bought a bunch grown in the Bay Area for only $4.99 at Berkeley Bowl. I should've pick up some baby kale too to accent it.
I love this arrangement by morganiscool on Flickr. It'd pair nicely with my Vera table linen idea from an earlier post.
