Inspiration #65: What to do with my birdcage?

Our "musically romantic" save-the-dates feature a pair of lovebirds tweeting to each other on music bars. I had been resisting the urge to buy a birdcage but I finally gave in when I found a rather unique one at TJ Maxx a couple weeks ago.

So, what's one to do with a birdcage? Most people use it to collect love notes from their guests or to hold candles. I like the idea of creating a terrarium (above) or floral arrangement (below). If you're also using a birdcage, what are you planning to do with it?

We’re using a cage as a card box, but I love the idea of using one to create a floral arrangement!

I'm still on the hunt for a pretty bird cage to use as a card box. I say go for that if you don't already have one or maybe make a floral arrangement for the head table?

I like your idea for using it at the head table, Miss Fancy Pants. I'm undecided on the card box. I wanted to have guests write notes on ceramic/salt dough ornaments so we could reuse and remember at Christmas.

First off I want to say that I LOVE you blog. I am a bay area future bride that is trying to have a under 10,000 wedding. . . I feel like its impossible so we are now waiting like 2 or 3 years, but your blog is def. giving me hope :) Anyways I recently found a bird cage at the TJ Maxx in Alameda and I have an idea to weave ribbon on the top and bottom and then put either fake rose petals or some sort of arangement at the bottom and use it as my Card box. I will then have a little sign that says cards in the middle. Since the slots are big enough for envelopes. I found images on the knot before but now I can't seem to find them.
